Mark SingleyStudent Loans Q&A financial aid, higher degree
I’m a good student and I want to go to college but my family cannot afford it. I’m planning on being in college for many years, my goal is a Master’s degree at the least. So would a loan or Financial aid be able to hold me that long or possibly for a higher degree? Would I have enough left over to live on?

Mark SingleyStudent Loans Q&A co signer, decisions, economy, financial aid, financial pressure, grants, parents, personal expenses, promissory note, school year, unsubsidized loan
I NEED HELP! I filled out financial aid for this school year and I didn’t quite know how it worked. I had a couple grants and I have a subsidized and an unsubsidized loan, but in my MPN (Mastery Promissory Note) it included in my tuition a PLUS loan. I didn’t read on about it, but I now know that it is a loan for my parents to take out. I really need that loan towards my U-Bill and for personal expenses, but I don’t want to ask my parents to have to take out a loan (as the economy is not good right now and I know that would be stressful). I personally will have to pay for my own college either way, but I don’t know if I should have them take a loan out or if I should go to a bank and do it, but either way I will have to have a co-signer.
I’m trying to make the best decisions here, but it’s really hard. I’m active at school and I’m trying to get good grades, so this financial pressure is a HUGE burden on me! Please let me know what you think!

Mark SingleyStudent Loans Q&A dad, financial aid, florida pre paid college, much money, quot, rude awakening, Student Loans Q&A, university of miami
I thought this entire time my dad had paid for 2+2 plan with Florida pre paid college and now looking at the papers I am in for a rude awakening that its only 2 year community college. What am I going to do after the two years if I want to get into a good university? I don’t make much money, I want to get into University of Miami should I just give that dream up or is financial aid or "student loans" good, can someone explain the process to me?
thanks

Mark SingleyStudent Loans Q&A financial aid, last spring, student loan
i already applied for financial aid for the spring. Can i also apply for a student loan? and get both of them? I got financial aid last fall and last spring, but in the spring i dropped my classes and they wouldnt give it to me this fall but said they would in the spring. So if i went ahead and applied for a loan would it affect my financial aid?

Mark SingleyStudent Loans Q&A federal loan, federal stafford loan, financial aid, loans, perkins, student loan, subsidized stafford loan, unsubsidized federal stafford, unsubsidized federal stafford loan, unsubsidized stafford loan, wellsfargo
I have enough financial aid with the loans they offered me to cover my upcoming year of college. But that includes like 3 different types of loans: Perkins Federal Loan, Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan, and Subsidized Stafford Loan.
Would it be better to just use all of these loans offered, or to get a student loan through Wellsfargo or TCF?
My main thing is, with the Unsubsidized Stafford loan, the interest accumulates immediately at 6.8%, you cant defer payments til after school. So would it be better to use that through financial aid or get a student loan?
I meant you can’t defer the interest til after school
