If I get my bachelors degree online (at St.Leo), will this be detrimental on an application?

I got my A.A at a community college, and live in a small town with little educational opportunities. I am taking business administration with a specialization in accounting. I do have a 4.0 GPA, but I worry this will mean little because its an online school, although its accredited.

Congratulations on completion of your AA degree. Although the school that you are attending for your BA is accredited, it is only fair that you are made aware that people do discriminate. Although they can not "legally" turn you away, HR professionals can be biased. I overheard a lady at a recruiting affair, say "it’s a shame that the lady attended University of Phoenix" or she would have hired her. The belief is that online colleges are not as reputable and will give anyone a degree. Not only that, but they do not know if the person who has the degree did so with integrity. When you are at home, the option to let someone else do your work or use of a text book for tests may make it appear that you have not demonstrated the "true mastery" that those who have attended a traditional college or universe do. A 4.0 makes it easier to believe that a person just opened the book and aced everything easily. Please don’t take this as harsh, because I am only sharing what I have heard through other people. Personally, I attend a four year on-site college, but I try to take online classes as often as possible. A working mom with full load has to do what works. I hope this helps some. While it may not be what you wanted to hear, it is good to hear all sides to formulate a good decision of what you want to do and what the general perception is.

Saint Leo is NOT a “degree mill” or an online-only university. Saint Leo was founded in 1889 and has an outstanding reputation as one of the leading Catholic institutions in the country. Saint Leo has a traditional campus in Florida and centers in several states- also, Saint Leo is one of the largest educators of our military since they are able to offer classes on-ground and online and offer the flexibility working adults need to complete their degree. Saint Leo has basketball and baseball and I felt connected to the school because I could actually root for a team…I researched several colleges when I was ready to go back to school and found that Saint Leo offers the best financial aid package, the most diverse online classes, and is the easiest to actually talk to a live person- also, when I graduate, I will be able to go to the campus and have a “real” ceremony with other students who take classes online- so, I can say that Saint Leo is a “real” school and you most definitely will NOT be discriminated against if you choose to get your degree from Saint Leo.
    GO LIONS!!
