LPN amp, education, medical field, time consuming 2 Comments
I recently was given two years of college paid for, I am in my late 20′s and have three small children. I would like to take this opportunity to continue my education, but I am unsure what field would be the best to go into?? Is RN college too time consuming and would it take away from my family? Or would it be worth using two years of this paid college to start in that direction? Is there any medical field out there that two years of college would be useful for? I have been thinking a lot about this and want to make a wise and informed decision about what I decide to go into. I would like to still be a mother to my three young children(1,2&4years old), but feel like I need to use this opportunity to follow a dream that I have had for many years of perhaps becoming a RN or at lest heading in that direction. Please if anyone out there has some advice please let me know!!!

I would take that opportunity and run with it, because you’ll never know if that chance may come again. Nursing is an awesome route to go, LPN only requires 2 years and the pay is pretty good, plus, you can articulate into RN later on when your kids are older or whatever -but you are likely in a full time program that requires atleast 5 days a week of class.. and clinicals. You must know that in order to be accepted into a program like this you’ll have prerequisite classes required to be finished before even being entered to the program.(english 101, bio, etc.) But the market for nurses is great, easy to find jobs, and good benefits. Best Wishes!

Most LPN Schools in Pa are 1yr FT and 2yrs PT, You can always go back to school for RN when your kids get older.
Good Luck
