I was trapsing around the blogosphere and found the alas, I miss Hillary. Although I think Biden is a superlative choice for Obama, and I am a Delawarean, so we are officially on the Map. I’ve actually met him several times and he is a great guy, honest, and he seems to be a good statesman compliment to Obama’s presidential tone.

I stop by my old stalwart hill buzz which I see has moved to wordpress. I like them getting serious. Grassroots takes time online too. We all start with a bit of writing, like this, and slowly we form into something.

But I miss Hillary. Now there would have been a ticket.
I have never met her, but would like to. Amazing woman. And I am pleased to see her rise after her husband left office. It is truly her time. Not this election, but maybe later.

<ins id="google_ad_div1" style="border: medium none ; margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt; position: relative; display: block; visibility: visible"></ins>

I am reminded of the election years ago when Biden wanted to run before his tumor surgery. It was not the time then, and perhaps not his path to best destiny to be president.

And in the immortal words from the Melanie Griffith Movie “Working Girl” Just because we dance in our bedrooms in our underwear, doesn’t make us Madonna. But I think I would prefer McCain/Madonna. Now there is a community organizer.

Perhaps Biden/Clinton. or Clinton/Biden. It is now plausible. Certianly as plausible as Palin.

And we all want to know, where has the Statesman McCain gone. Who is this stiff character at the podium more akin to a caricature than a war hero.

McCain, we need you, we need your power. When this is all over, Palin will be as forgotten as Dan Quayle.

But Bush has gone to infamy.

Let’s vote folks. The Pendulum is back around.

I went to my eharmony login recently, and had to stop to think. With the successes I’ve had with online dating, from the original Love.com that AOL offered for Free (!) those were the days, to now Match, Eharmony, and the slew of others. I even encountered a site for people with Mental illness called No Longer Lonely www.nolongerlonely.com which I located on a search for Bipolar disorder, which I have. I thought that finding someone who also has it might be a good mix. But I haven’t used the site yet.

Eharmony promises to match you, for better or worse (pardon the pun) and getting the eharmony login is easy, as it is with Chemistry, etc. But it is irritating that they allow you to search at a free level, and tantilize you with the prospects to get you to join at the higher level.

But, as I am in my 40’s, it seems to make systematic sense to date with a fee. You get what you pay for.

I like to think that online dating is exactly the opposite of the bar scene.
Why? In the bar you see the person, go hopefully start to chat them up, and then find out over time if you are compatible.

Online you email, speak, maybe meet, but you get to kind of pre vet the person prior to committing face time.

I have rules. First, you must see a picture. Sorry, but I stick to that one. AND, you must put one on your profile. No ifs ands or buts. Into the eharmony profile, login, and upload.

If the initial email works, then do phone. But the entire thing or exchange you have had can change when you hear the persons voice. If the phone is good, then do COFFEE. Not dinner.

Coffee gives you a way to bail on the date if it goes badly. Look, we all have dates that go badly. It’s just the way of things. If you do something as small as coffee it is easy to leave with grace and a small excuse.

So, online and off I have had some dating disasters. But with eharmony you can login and see that the pool of people taking the same risk you are is pretty large. And when I used to login (I’ve been fortunate enough to have found someone so my eharmony login is dormant) I would often see an email from an intriguing person I might NOT have approached in a bar.

That, in itself is the beauty of sites like eharmony. We’re all in it together, so let’s do it maximally and safely.

Among top rated Business Schools, there is a select group that is best of the best. But they change yearly, but not their cost. In this economy, is there a best case for the budget student? How to decide.

Among them, the old standbys, Harvard, Stanford, Wharton (University of Pennsylvania-congratulations Phillies!) and increasingly Stern at New York University. But what defines the top anymore, and is it necessary?

A fully compiled list is here Business schools

Among associates interviewed, though there was a new consideration for schools that fall outside of the existing pantheon. In particular, Thunderbird (yes, odd name, but highly regarded) University of Delaware, and even places at state universities.

What is also emerging is the confidence in online business degrees-most notably from the University of Phoenix, but in many cases, it is worth considering that a smaller, more intimate experience that is direct and hands on will far outstrip the online education.

The in person qualities of education are essential for a well rounded experience.

Check the ranking of business schools here. Wharton is number 3, but that is only US News.

Established in 1881 as one of world’s first business schools for solely that purpose. it exists in conjunction with the other schools and colleges of the University of Pennsylvania. Wharton offers a comprehensive education on all levels, with focal concentrations too

The 300 member faculty has an 8:1 student ratio. But you have to get in first.

The highly selective admissions process is Wharton is typical, demanding well rounded candidates with not just good scores on standardized tests. Robust prerequisites for admissions are the norm. Focus on the individual, and the potential contribution. Not the numbers next to the name. This is a strength of Wharton as a school.

The Consolidation interest loan rate for student and graduate loans have changed recently, but are still favorable depending on your situation. An excellent calculator for your student consolidation rate structure and prediction can be found at www.federalconsolidation.org

But aside from that, the rates are better with a consolidated loan, and consolidation interest loan rate for student and undergraduate loans of all kinds benefit from consolidation. So does your peace of mind.

You always get

Fixed Interest Rates

Lower Monthly Payments

Only One Payment Each Month

Consolidation actually involves a very large sum of money, so when calculating you are dealing with money that will come out of your future earnings for a very long time, so be aware, and think and do the math. Crunch the numbers.

Consolidation is offered by lots of companies on the web. And the consolidation interest loan rate for student and other loans is very favorable. Even with recent changes.

You can choose which of your loans you want to include in your consolidation loan; you can also choose to consolidate your undergraduate loans while you are in graduate school; you can even choose to consolidate only a portion of your eligible loans. Your consolidation interest loan rate will be something you need to shop around for, and pay attention to small changes in percentages. Much like mortgages. A tenth of a percent can be a huge difference in your wallet.

With recent changes to the Federal Loan programs, consolidation may not be beneficial for you. You need to check the math, and the facts.

If you are interested in a career in medicine, there are options that you might not even have considered. Rather than going to medical school to study western medicine, you might consider studying traditional chinese medicine by attending acupuncture school. Acupuncture online courses, acupuncture online school and school resources abound especially as the practice and method of treatment is taking hold in the western world.

Acupuncture goes back more than 3000 years, and is widely used to treat a range of diseases urinary tract to ear nose and throat diseases to diseases asthma, to depression, anxiety, and even drug addiction. After attending acupuncture school, you will be able to treat practically anything that western doctor can treat with a few simple tools.

An acupuncturists main tool is a thin, flexible needle. When it is inserted into the patient, strangely enough, it doesn’t hurt like an injection does. This is because it is very thin, and is not inserted very deeply, while an injection is given through a thick, hollow needle stuck deep into a vein.

These acupuncture needles are inserted into certain points along meridians. In acupunture school, they teach that the meridians are special channels in the human body, along which energy, called Qi, flows. This energy regulates all bodily processes. When it flows strongly and evenly, the body is healthy, but when the flow is disturbed, or if there is not enough Qu, it results in diseases. Through the acupuncture point, a practitioner can regulate the flow of Qi to correct diseases in the body.

Acupuncture is not necessarily used alone. Acupuncture school will, in addition, often teach other traditional chinese healing arts, such as herbology, bodywork, and the use of diet to enhance health. While Western medicine concerns itself mostly with correcting health problems once the become very serious, Chinese medicine concerns itself as much with prevention as with treatment. It is much better, and in the long run, easier, to prevent disease than to cure it.

Because it has not been completely accepted by the western medical establishment, many people assume that accupuncture is quackery. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most states have a board that oversees the practice of accupuncture and require up to four years of formal schooling. In many cases, to graduate acupuncture school, not only must a student understand principals of acupuncture, herbology, and oriental theory and diagnosis, but also biology, organic biochemistry, anatomy, history of medicine, and even clinical medicine. And because of the rigorous standards applied to the practice of acupuncture, as well as its proven results, it is rapidly gaining popularity and acceptance in the west.

Acupuncture online courses help train candidates, but are no substitute for real school. Using an Acupuncture online school may not be the greatest way to train, but if it is the only option you could explore it. Don’t ignore it because it is electronic.

Many health plans are beginning to cover acupuncture treatments, recognizing its ability to prevent diseases from becoming more serious, and the affordability of its simple treatments compared to expensive medications and elaborate tests preferred by western medication. It can even be used in surgery as an alternative in anaesthesia. Acupuncture is an exciting, rapidly expanding field. There has never been a better time to practice.

These words lay the foundation of later learning. Very important, and a list helps you and your child gauge what to do and where problem areas are.

It is important that a list of 1st grade spelling list is used so that the student can practice and learn how to achieve better academic performance than he or she would otherwise have. The list is a measure of comprehension.

We like this list posted on a local site called Mrs. Mcgowan check it for a good basic list.

Every 1st grade spelling word is important because the students comprehension of reading, writing, and spelling, is built one word at a time. By using a spelling list, it is easy to quickly improve spelling performance.

As a tutor, I often use 1st grade spelling words to help my students improve their spelling, however these spelling lists are not a magical solution all by themselves. In fact, there really is no one key to education. Although lists of 1st grade spelling words can improve ability to read and write, what is even more important is actual practice reading and writing. 1st grade spelling words really don’t prepare you all by themselves.

Each student must be able to read at multiple levels. A book for fluency is useful, as well as a more challenging one. The fluency book is one at comfort level, or perhaps just above that, designed to help the student become more confident smoothly decoding their readings. The challenge book can help them advance their level once their confidence improves, and can even be tailored to include 1st grade spelling words so that they can immediately see how these words can be included in writing. What is really useful is alternating lessons first the book, then the 1st grade spelling words, and finally the writing.

The writing is pretty basic at that level. It isn’t so important to include lists of 1st grade spelling words as a requirement of what the student must write. What really is important is to help the student learn to write smoothly and clearly. This is absolutely crucial and essential. The student, like with their reading, must learn to feel confident about writing at the first grade level before any more progress can be made. Otherwise, you will just make them feel nervous and apprehensive, which will not help learning at all. It really is most important to make the first grader enjoy the educational process so that he or she will feel fully prepared to enjoy school and learn as much as possible. This is the best way to succeed.

I was homecoming queen, and had never thought that might get me anything but a ride on a float.

When the time came for me to finance college, we as a family were shocked. You hear about the cost, but you are never prepared for how much it truly turns out to be. We are in a small town, some of us don’t get out to college, but I had to, and it was what my parents wanted for me all along. We were going to make it happen.

The cost of attending college continues to rise year after year. After factoring in tuition, textbooks, housing, travel, and spending money, it could easily cost $20,000 per year (or more) to attend college. The high price tag associated with getting a post-secondary education presents a quandary for many would-be students. There’s no question that you need a degree to get ahead in today’s world, but who wants to go into debt to the tune of $80,000 in the process? I started digging on the web. And I could not believe what I found.

http://www.americashomecomingqueen.com/
I could get a scholarship for being homecoming queen!

American homecoming queen scholarships is just one of the staggering amount of American scholarships that are out there. These prizes are superior to loans because they never have to be paid back. And unlike grants, there are many American scholarships based on merit rather than need. This means that almost any student can apply for one of these prizes and have a chance to win money to help defray college costs.

American scholarships are available in a number of different categories. For example, students can win money based on their performance in athletics, academics, arts, or community service. In addition, there are American scholarships for students that want to pursue a particular field of study in college, such as engineering, mathematics, or education. Moreover, there are specialty categories such as Native American scholarships, African American scholarships, and so forth. These prizes may only be won by students of a particular ethnicity or heritage, and the awards are usually very prestigious and generous.

Because there are so many American scholarships available, it’s difficult for students to keep track of all the offerings on their own. Fortunately, the Internet is making that task much easier than it has been in the past. There are a lot of databases out there that provide comprehensive lists and descriptions of current American scholarships, as well as service companies that specialize in locating prizes that students are qualified to apply for based on the profile data supplied. Some of these databases and companies require paid memberships, but the fees are well worth it to students looking to apply for as many American scholarships as possible. These services save time, which means the students can focus on writing winning essays rather than on searching for a suitable scholarship.

Don’t let your dream of a college education get away from you because of a lack of money. There are literally millions of dollars up for grabs in American scholarships each and every year.Look at everything you did, assume their is a scholarship for it, and go find it.

I suffer from it. I see my doctor and take a cocktail of meds. Believe me it is difficult not to be the master of the universe, but I am trying to learn not to be.

We may feel like some of the most unlucky, most victimized people on the planet until we meet, or in my case, give birth to a child with ADHD (Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder), also known as ADD or adult ADD. Imagine a npd mother raising adhd child I was diagnosed with NPD, and it is difficult to say the least to deal with an adhd child but I often think it is my lesson in life. A way to pry open the condition I have been given, and raise my son with love that I did not know I had in my narcissistic interior. But maybe you have yet to experience the books, magazines (yes, whole magazines are devoted to Attention Deficit Disorder), articles, and other media sources giving up-to-date and exceptionally helpful information on ADHD, ADD, and the companion maladies (such as depression, manic episodes, and illnesses related to or brought on as a fallout of our having this complex disorder). I had to stop being me, and find the space in MY world for my beloved adhd child. God works in mysterious ways, indeed. Hope this helps. So here are a few places for you to look, sources for you to consult, or communities for you to join: ADDitude Magazine - I found copies of this in my colleagues office, where, as a differential skills therapist she worked with many students with ADHD. The magazine is so real-world coping, so progressive and proactive, I subscribed to it after reading the first two or three articles.

Any books by Thom Hartmann—Dr. Hartman, an ADD specialist, has clinical, casual, and readable materials. He also writes of a theory he has about ADDers, saying we are the hunters in a hunter-gatherer society—where secretaries, assistants, accountants, and agents, for instance, are our gatherers to our creative, out there, dynamic go-go-go personalities…. That book is titled ADHD Secrets of Success, though his other books and articles are equally fascinating and supportive.

You Mean I’m Not Crazy, Stupid, or Lazy? Will, if you have never read any information on ADHD yet, change your life. It was the first book I grabbed after a student with whom I worked and a friend recommended it to me. It is written by Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo, and is thorough, candid, and most informative. Also good to know, maybe, is that publishers rejected this book many times, so the authors humped it to bookstores until it finally got taken (by a VERY wise publisher). It is one of the best-selling books on ADHD, and when you read it, you will know why, and you will agree.

Other supportive and ADHD-proactive authors include Sari Solden and Michelle Novotni, who both tout and praise the creative side of ADDers, when many have written us off as having merely behavioral problems. Au contraire, say Novotni and Solden: we are some of the most creative people one could ever hope to meet.

And here are some urls for sites and specialists with whom I have limited experience but whom and which I have studied intensely:

Breath & Shadow, ROSC’s Journal of Literature and Disability Culture– http://www.abilitymaine.org/breath/

So we can quit bellyaching any time now, for not only are we gifted, I think, with the unusual talents and skills that come with being an NPD, but we are gifted with technology, sources, and resources for information on ADHD that not many before us (say, 20 years ago) knew about or had access to. Npd and adhd research are both almost rising simultaneously. And like my son, we grow together.

Reading the latest ADHD article, I was surprised on how far treatment of attention deficit disorder has come since I was a kid. You see, I had childhood ADHD, and I can tell you first hand that, back then, there was only one option for treatment. That was to medicate. Oh sure, sometimes there was counseling used for ADD, but every ADHD article that I read at the time said that the only solution was to medicate. Fortunately, it is not that way anymore, according to every article on ADHD I’ve read recently.

Of course, the truth is that it varies between doctors, so an ADHD article tells an absolute, definitive medical position, but if you look at the facts, things really have changed a whole lot in the last ten years. The cutting edge in ADHD article research is now focused on the stories of kids who have been treated for ADD successfully without medication. There are many reasons why things have changed so much, so here are a few.

One of them is simply the fact that there have not been enough longitudinal studies done on the effects of using speed on kids. ADHD medication is usually made up of powerful stimulants, and although there has not been an epidemic of kids dying or anything like that, nevertheless, there is no one who knows for sure if these medications are really as safe for kids as they are claimed to be by the pharmaceutical industry. According to one ADHD article that I read, the reason that treatment by medication became so popular in the first place has to do with the tremendous amount of money which has been invested into ADHD articles by the pharmaceutical industry to claim that the medications are safe. More than one ADHD article questions this wisdom and says that, not only are the medicines not safe, but there are more effective treatments available today.

Some of the treatments advocated in an ADHD article are things like NLP, or various behavior modification programs, but many doctors say that they have gotten good results through simple things like diet. Now that my kid has developed ADHD, I think that I will try out what these articles have to say. Even if I can not find the solution in any ADHD article, it is worth trying if it means that there is a chance that my kid will not have to take medication.
