There are tons of online programs. I personally attended American Intercontinental Univ. and Capella University, and I have taught for various online schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Online courses tend to vary in price, so we could say they are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.

The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am close to finishing my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later.

You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

No – you do not. Online colleges, including Phenix university accept students from a wide background. ASU also has liberal arts programs available online only.

No, only if you are applying for a graduate program. I have 2 friends that completed courses using the University of Phoenix and they said they recommend it.

Instead of looking at colleges like University of Phoenix, I would suggest looking at colleges around you that offer online classes. They are usually a lot cheaper and have less students. I looked at UofP when I needed a few classes and didn’t want to travel for a quarter. The prices were outrageous and were more then double that of my private University!

Most state and some private institutions offer online courses that count like you took them from on campus. I strongly suggest this over the new online universities that are only online.

Well I think that depends on the online college in question. I believe University of Phoenix offers an associate degree online. However, I think you should really look at what you need this degree for on the long term. Most if not all online colleges are not really accredited. They have what they are calling an accreditation but it’s not the same as real colleges. So, if you ever what to transfer credits to a real college, Penn State, WVU, JMU to name a few, YOU CAN’T!!! So, in like 5 to 10 years you may have to pay for the same classes over again b/c they don’t transfer and you decided to go to a real school.

You do not need an associates degree. As a matter of fact I went through online school and I only had a high school diploma. I got my AAS in Web Design. This site:

Is the site that led me to the school that I attended. I recommend searching for a school :)
